    • To become a RD: courses pertaining to subjects such as organic chemistry, pathophysiology, food science, medical nutrition therapy, and counseling must be taken; this is followed by a minimum of 1,000 supervised practice hours to permit eligibility to sit for the national board exam. And starting in 2024, a minimum of a masters degree will be required for exam eligibility.

    • To become a traditional or “non-RD“ nutritionist: there is limited regulation on who can use the term nutritionist. Regulation of this term is dependent upon the state laws. There are some nutritionists that may have education and a scientific background; however, there are many online courses that provide individuals with the term nutritionists that do not use evidence based information in education. In fact, due to the limited regulation of this term in certain states, there is nothing stopping you from calling yourself a nutritionist without any training!

    • According to the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), "RDs are food and nutrition experts"

    • One on one, in-person counseling services at Club Sweat Westport. This will provide an individualized approach based on the individual's goals.

    • One on one, telehealth counseling services will allow for the same benefits and care as in-person counseling services, but it is appropriate for those who may wish to meet with the dietitian virtually.

    • Monthly nutrition workshops will highlight a new topic of discussion in a group setting. These event topics are announced on our website, through email, and in-studio. Kindly reserve your spot by emailing nutrition@club-sweat.com

    • Weekly educational videos are uploaded to Club Sweat Digital. This is available to those who have a Club Sweat Digital subscription.

  • Overall, working with a RD provides a client with an individualized, evidenced based approach to reach his or her specific goal.
